Akinwumi is the Behavioural Insights Lead at PIC. In this role, he leads a multidisciplinary team of behavioural scientists/economists, design experts, researchers, data analysts and project managers to utilize evidence from behavioural science to inform innovative design and implementation of programs, products and policies.
His work is at the intersect of diagnosing behavioural problems and barriers, designing contextual environment, strategies and systems as well as nudges that influence optimal behavioural outcomes in several programs and policies. Akin brings his dexterity to unbundling problems relating to market demand, uptake and utilization of products and services and has led several initiatives to address this at scale across sectors.
Prior to joining PIC, he was a Research Manager at Population Council, where he led several operational research and published articles in peer-reviewed journals. Aside from holding a Master’s degree in Public Health, Akin has received training in Design Thinking and Innovation from Havard University, as well as a certified training in Behavioural Change Interventions from University College, London
