Maryam Uwais is an experienced lawyer, business leader, human rights activist, and former public official with over 36 years of experience in law, governance, and social development. She served as the Special Advisor on Social Investments to President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2023, where she played a pivotal role in implementing Nigeria’s National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP), including N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfers, and Public Enlightenment Initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and empowering vulnerable groups.
Her legal career spans distinguished roles at the Kano State Ministry of Industry, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, where she contributed to legal policy reforms and economic development strategies.
Beyond her government service, Mrs. Uwais has been a vocal advocate for social justice, particularly in areas related to poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, and child rights.
