Maryam is a Program Advisor at the Policy Innovation Centre (PIC). In this role, she leads engagement with government agencies, civil society organisations, and community stakeholders to support the design and delivery of inclusive governance and gender-focused programmes.
At PIC, her work focuses on translating evidence into action. She works closely with field teams and local partners to ensure that research reflects community realities, and she helps policymakers use these insights to shape more responsive interventions. She has facilitated dialogues, overseen field research, and contributed to reports that bridge the gap between community voices and national policy.
With a background in communication and over eight years of professional experience, Maryam has worked on donor-funded projects with organisations including the British Council Nigeria, CITAD, and the United States Institute of Peace. Her expertise lies in gender equality, women’s empowerment, and governance, where she has designed training curricula, coordinated advocacy campaigns, and facilitated initiatives that shift harmful norms and expand opportunities for women and girls.
