Somawina is a Senior Programs Specialist at the Policy Innovation Center where she oversees multi-sectoral health programs and manages relationships with PIC partners and donors, including government agencies, NGOs, and multilateral organizations, to drive sustainable health outcomes. She has a strong background in public health programming, health policy analysis, evaluation of health programs, and evidence-based intervention strategies, particularly in gender and social inclusion.
Prior to joining PIC, Som first worked at Oregon State University as a Public health instructor and then started her career in global health in 2017, working at organizations such as MGIC (Nigeria), Population Council (Nigeria) and African Women on Board (AWB), overseeing and providing technical support for various women’s empowerment and women’s health projects.
Som holds a PhD in Public health from Oregon State University, a Masters in Nutrition (with a minor in Communications) from Tufts University, and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Ibadan.
