Who we are?

The Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) is the first national institutionalized behavioural initiative in Africa supporting government and stakeholders to make behaviourally informed decisions and generate evidence for impact driven interventions in critical thematic areas (Governance, Health, Gender & Social Inclusion, Education, Digital & Financial Inclusion). The PIC is positioned to support the delivery of better policies and innovative solutions for high impact interventions across Africa. The PIC is an affiliate of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), a leading think tank in Africa redefining evidence-based policy advocacy.

Job Description

PIC is seeking to hire a Project Officer to support the implementation of project activities, ensuring effective coordination between field teams, partners, and the technical lead. The project officer will oversee day-to-day operations, monitor progress, and contribute to documentation, reporting, and quality assurance in line with project objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of project plans, workplans, and schedules.
  • Assist in coordinating project activities to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and donor requirements.
  • Monitor day-to-day implementation to ensure timely and quality delivery of project outputs.
  • Track project progress against targets, indicators, and timelines.
  • Prepare regular project reports, updates, and documentation for management and donors.
  • Identify and flag risks, challenges, and deviations from plans for timely corrective action.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with internal teams, partners, and beneficiaries.
  • Support engagement with government agencies, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain stakeholder databases and track engagement outcomes to support project objectives.
  • Support budget monitoring, procurement, and proper utilization of project resources.
  • Assist in maintaining financial records and documentation for audits and donor reporting.
  • Ensure resources are used efficiently and in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Assist in organizing trainings, workshops, and awareness sessions for project staff and partners.
  • Support knowledge sharing and learning activities within the project team.
  • Contribute to the development of project guidelines, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure project activities comply with donor, organizational, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support quality assurance by reviewing deliverables and monitoring adherence to project standards.
  • Promote ethical practices and accountability in all aspects of project implementation.

 

Qualifications/Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in project implementation, coordination, or program management within NGOs, development agencies, or similar organizations.
  • Experience in planning, monitoring, and reporting on development projects or programs.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, frameworks, and reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of donor requirements, grant management, and compliance procedures.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams and with diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to organizational values and ethical practices.
