Abiola Oyebanjo is the Social Research Specialist at the Policy Innovation Center (PIC). Before joining PIC, He led the Empowerment for Local People Foundation, using data and technology to combat poverty among small businesses in Nigeria, supporting thousands of entrepreneurs, including farmers.
As a CEGA fellow at UC Berkeley, Abiola specializes in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quantitative research. He is the Co-Principal Investigator for an RCT on digital public infrastructure in Kaduna and has led RCTs sponsored by the American University DC, the International Growth Center (IGC), and PEDL, focusing on informal firms and enterprise development. He has also worked with Reboot and the International Institute for Local Development.
Abiola’s research explores education returns, labour market inequalities, social protection, and enterprise development in developing countries. He holds a PhD from Humboldt University, Berlin, and is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Ibadan.
Outside work, he enjoys travelling, soul music and cheering Arsenal FC to victory!
