A results-driven Gender and Inclusion Specialist with extensive experience in gender policy analysis, research, advocacy, and program management. Adept at integrating Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) into national and subnational policies, Adekemi has played a pivotal role in shaping gender-responsive governance and programming in Nigeria.
As Gender and Inclusion Lead at the Policy Innovation Centre (PIC), she integrates Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) into policies and programs, serves as training coordinator of the Gender and Development Course and programme manages the Gender and Inclusion Summit. She presently provides technical support to the Lagos State Government on the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy, ensuring its successful domestication and implementation. Her research includes a gender analysis of Nigeria’s mining sector, the integration of gender considerations into Edo State’s Digital Policy, as well as institutional reforms that support women in leadership.
Over the years, she has contributed to key projects with Co-impact, Global Parenting Initiative, UNDP, World Bank, BMGF, and UNFPA, focusing on women’s economic empowerment, gender-based violence, and social inclusion. She holds an MSc in Health & Society from University College London and a BSc in Sociology from University of Ibadan. In addition, she has obtained certifications in Gender and Development from the Policy Innovation Centre in collaboration with Obafemi Awolowo University, Feminist Edge – Professional Development for Gender Trainers from KIT Royal Tropical Institute (ongoing), GenderPro from The George Washington University, and Data Analytics from Data Lead Africa.
