Doris Ajah-Okohu – Research Advisor. As the PIC staff in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ajah-Okohu coordinates and oversees research and activities and programs happening in South East Nigeria - especially in Ebonyi State and across departments in PIC. Statutory roles includes research planning, collecting data and supervising data collection, code transcripts and conduct descriptive analysis, report writing, and developing policy briefs to support evidence-based decision-making.
Prior to her engagement with PIC, Dr. Ajah-Okohu has over 19 years of experience in research and development practice, serving in diverse capacities including trainer, State Engagement Officer, State Representative, consultant, supervisor, team lead, research assistant, interviewer, monitoring and evaluation officer, data entry officer, transcriber , and translator (Igbo–English–Igbo).She has provided these services while working with reputable organizations and institutions such as Chatham House, UNICEF, UNDP, WHO, USAID-funded programs, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Mectizan Donation Centre, APHRC, HPRG, Population Council, InSiGHt Health Consult, MITOSATH, Invictus Africa, FRED and the Ministry of Women Affairs, among others.
Dr. Ajah-Okohu has led and supported numerous studies spanning maternal health, gender-based violence (GBV) and intimate partner violence (IPV), harmful cultural practices, fistula care, HPV vaccine uptake, and social norms research. Ph.D. in Medical Sociology; currently pursuing further studies - Ph.D in Anthropology (Ethnography).
