Esther is the Country Manager of Nigeria's National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP). In this role, she leads multi-stakeholder collaboration between government, the private sector, and civil society to drive systemic plastic waste policy at national scale. She brings together diverse actors across Nigeria's recycling and waste management ecosystem, translating advocacy into actionable policy frameworks that create measurable environmental and social impact.
Prior to joining NPAP, Esther built a distinguished career at Wecyclers Nigeria Limited, where she led business development and partnerships — managing high-value collaborations with Unilever, Nestlé, Sahara Group, and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund. She spearheaded the establishment of 12 recycling kiosks across Lagos, coordinated 14+ large-scale ocean and urban cleanups, and helped divert 205 tonnes of recyclables annually while creating 47+ new jobs. She also secured about $201,000 in grants and contributed to a $5.5 million fundraise to scale Wecyclers' operations. Beyond this, she led the Fair Plastic Alliance — a nonprofit advancing the rights and economic inclusion of waste pickers — where she co-authored the Livelihood of Waste Pickers in Lagos report, a document that has directly shaped national policy discussions on formalising waste workers within Nigeria's recycling value chain.
Esther holds a BSc in Environmental Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and is currently pursuing an MSc at the University of Edinburgh as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar. She has received climate leadership and capacity-building training from Lagos Business School, New York University, and the International Academy for Leadership (Germany), GreenCape South Africa, and is an alumna of the African Wildlife Foundation's Wall Leadership and Management Fellowship and the YALI Regional Leadership Program (Accra). She also facilitates sessions on partnerships and waste management at Lagos Business School's Sustainable Waste Management Programme.
